The Story Behind My DC Prints
Share
Washington, DC has always been one of my favorite cities. I've spent a lot of time taking pictures of DC's streets, parks, and monuments. The energy of the city, its iconic architecture, and the beauty of its seasons have inspired some of my most popular work: my DC prints collection.
In this post, I want to take you behind the scenes and share the stories and inspirations behind each piece.
The Capitol Building: A Symbol of Resilience
There's something undeniably powerful about the Capitol Building. I've painted it multiple times — each time discovering something new in its columns, its dome, its reflection in the surrounding fountains. My Capitol Building DC 8x10 Print captures the building in its classic grandeur, while the Capitol Building with Fountain 8x10 Print adds the gentle movement of water to the scene. For those who want something truly statement-making, I also offer a Capitol Building Vertical 24x30 — perfect as a focal point for any room.
C Street and H Street: The Heartbeat of the City
Not all of DC's magic lives in its monuments. Some of it lives in the neighborhoods- in the row houses, the corner cafés, the murals, and the people. My C Street 8x10 Print and H Street DC print are love letters to the city's vibrant street life.
Audi Field: For the Spirit
Washington Spirit fans, this one's for you. My Audi Field 8x8 Print captures the stadium in a way that feels both architectural and full of energy. It makes a wonderful gift for the soccer lover in your life — or a great addition to a sports-themed gallery wall.
The Jefferson Memorial: Quiet Beauty
Of all the monuments in DC, the Jefferson Memorial is perhaps the most serene. Tucked along the Tidal Basin, it's especially magical during cherry blossom season, when the pink blooms frame the white marble dome. My Jefferson Memorial 8x10 Print captures that quiet, contemplative beauty that keeps me coming back to this spot year after year.
DC Cherry Blossoms: A Season Worth Celebrating
Speaking of cherry blossoms — they are, without question, one of the most spectacular natural events in the DC area. Every spring, the Tidal Basin transforms into a sea of pink and white, drawing visitors from around the world. I've been painting cherry blossoms for years, and the joy never fades.
If you want to bring that joy into your own home — or create it yourself — check out my DC Cherry Blossom Paint Kit. It's a fun, guided experience that lets you paint your own DC cherry blossom scene, whether you're a seasoned artist or a complete beginner. It also makes a wonderful gift!
